The American Cruise Lines (ACL) Marine Quality Control Inspector will be working from the new construction shipyard, Chesapeake Shipbuilding, located in Salisbury, MD.  The Marine QC Inspector will report directly to ACL’s Director of Engineering.


This individual’s primary responsibility will be to ensure that the company passenger vessels are being constructed in accordance with ACL standards, Code of Federal Regulations and US Coast Guard marine inspection requirements and good marine practice.  This job will require daily inspection of shipbuilding projects and documentation of those inspections.  Multiple trades will be required to be inspected including paint, welding, piping, electrical, HVAC/R and joiner work.   The Marine QC Inspector needs to be able to document deficiencies, then coordinate with trades of the shipyard to rectify those deficiencies.  A thorough orientation and training will be provided. Some domestic travel may be involved from time to time to document and inspect other vessels in the fleet. 



  • Reading drawings and technical documents.
  • Must be trainable to understand paint specifications, welding and steel fitting standards, USCG regulations.
  • Proficient with digital cameras and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently when needed.


  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in naval architecture, or mechanical, industrial, systems, electrical or aerospace engineering.
