The Ship Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all equipment onboard our ships including mechanical equipment such as pumps, Motors, engines, plumbing galley and many other equipment.  Many projects will need specialist tradesmen brought onboard to handle but the ship maintenance engineer will be the first step in performing the initial troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to all guest’s requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on main engines, generators and other ship’s equipment.
  • Complete work order requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition.
  • Inspect public and crew areas daily for any issues.
  • Provide maintenance repairs to guestrooms, public areas, and crew areas.
  • Repairs may include plumbing, kitchen, mechanical, laundry, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, furnishings and fixtures, painting, door, window repairs and diesel engine maintenance.
  • Maintain Preventative Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records on file.
  • Assist in all of the ships dockings.
  • Assist with loading of stores and unloading of trash.

Qualifications

The requirements of this job require basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and a basic mechanical ability to troubleshoot various problems that may arise. We have a maintenance crew and service network that will support you in the larger projects.

 

Applicant should be able to work alone and have pleasant attitude while working around guest and co-workers.  This job provides meals and lodging onboard our ships and you will be required to dress neatly and in uniform while on and off duty.  

 

  • 1 to 3 years hotel and restaurant experience in a leadership role (banquet experience is preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a hospitality or business field. College transcripts will be required during the interview process
  • Experience in training and development of new employees a plus
  • Proven track record in customer service
  • Ability to work/travel for six weeks followed by two weeks of vacation throughout the year
