American Cruise Lines provides highly customized experiences to each guest on its small, luxury ships. The Cruise Director is the front line of this service and is responsible for engaging guests in each destination through a series of tours and events on and off the cruise ship. As the Cruise Director, you manage the tours, entertainment, and fun onboard. We cruise to culturally significant places, so each day has to offer something unique.

As one of our active managers onboard, the Cruise Director position is a career that will keep you moving. While living and working onboard our cruise ships you will be traveling around the United States, visiting the most unique places along the way. Each offers something special and we have to provide access to it through a series of carefully coordinated tours and lecture events.

This role has the highest level of guest interaction and can be very demanding, with long hours. The role requires an energetic and creative person who has a passion for guest satisfaction. It is a unique opportunity for building on existing events management experience, or an established industry professional moving from an upscale resort atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange and confirm shore tours, onboard entertainment and lectures, then accompany guests on each as the company representative.
  • Coordinate all transportation logistics with bus and cab companies to ensure timely and smooth service.
  • Respond and accommodate guest requests, including highly personalized ones such as kayaking, golf tee times, and transportation arrangements.
  • Communicate changes confidently to guests.
  • Learn every guests name and preferences.
  • Promote onboard sales and brand loyalty program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality, tourism, or event management
  • Enthusiasm, confidence, and a can-do attitude
  • Previous experience in an upscale hotel, resort or entertainment industry
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Pass a Pre-employment drug test
  • Live and work on board for rotations of 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off
  • US Citizenship or legally authorized to work in the United States
